Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)

Frozen shoulder causes stiffness and pain from thickened shoulder capsule, often in 40-60-year-olds. Symptoms: limited ROM, aching, night pain. Phases: freezing, frozen, thawing. Untreated, lasts 1-3 years.

Home Exercise Protocol

  • Week 1-2:

  • Pendulum Swing (2 sets, 30 sec): Swing arm gently.

  • Towel Stretch (2 sets, 10 reps): Pull towel behind back, good arm lifts injured arm.

  • NovaWell Hack: “Thaw Glide” (2 sets, 10 reps): Slide arm up wall, 5° at a time.
     

  • Week 3-4:

  • Stick Lift (2 sets, 10 reps): Hold broomstick, lift arms slowly overhead.

  • Doorway Stretch (2 sets, 15 sec): Lean into doorway, stretch chest.

  • NovaWell Hack: “Thaw Pulse” (2 sets, 10 reps): Rotate arm 10° with stick, pause.

Objective: Restore ROM, reduce pain, regain function

Equipment: Towel, broomstick.
